About Kathryn

Kathryn Luxford is an upcoming singer/songwriter and performer from Glen Innes, a small town in north-east NSW. From the age of 4 Kathryn has known she was destined to be surrounded by music and on stage. It was at this age that she first picked up a guitar, she hasn’t put it down since. At the age of 8 she started singing and songwriting, and at 9 she started busking and entered her first talent quest. In an under 18’s section she took the title and has continued to compete in countless other competitions and won a few along the way.

Starting in the country music scene, Kathryn caught the attention of many by performing her solely written original songs at such a young age. These songs led to her winning the Mount Franklin Junior Talent Quest in 2016, Battle of the Youngstars in 2017, and Aristocrat Young Entertainer of the Year in 2019, to name a few.

During this time, Kathryn released an acoustic EP titled Walk Alone. The EP has gone on to be played in over 26 countries. This release was the most authentic representation of the schoolgirl troubles she experienced in her tween years. Her first headline show to launch the EP was a success with the audience lining up around the block to fit in the tiny room that underestimated the support from a small town for a local girl.

After performing on the main Toyota stage at Tamworth Country Music Festival, and many years creating music within the country genre, Kathryn’s musical style wasn’t molding into the style the way many pressured her to do so.

Early 2020 signified the regeneration of Kathryn Luxford, with her debut ticketed headline show Inconsistencies taking place to give a taste of her new style. A show of unreleased original music and interpretations of covers with a full band caught the attention of many, with a video from the show going viral on TikTok (viewed over one-hundred-and-fifty thousand times and being liked by more than forty thousand).

In June of 2020, in the height of the soul-crushing and industry-halting pandemic, Kathryn graduated from the Talent Development Project. This experience encouraged the growth and expansion of her entire musical being. With a newly defined image, sound, and confidence, Kathryn released Shut Me Down. The fresh hot pink hair, pop/rock sound and self-made, at-home, tightly budgeted, ‘smashing windscreen’, music video was a fresh start for Kathryn that encapsulated her talent, power, and skill.

Kathryn Luxford is currently honing her skills at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music and performing at various venues in the Greater Sydney area, most notably at Qudos Bank Arena before Amy Shark in 2021. New music from Kathryn is promised within the next year since recording in Sony Studios in June of 2022.
